Alicia’s Story

Alicia Cureton, a Charlotte native, grew up surrounded by the warmth of her parents, Jesse and Angela Cureton. Her childhood memories are intertwined with the vibrant neighborhoods of South Charlotte, where she explored life’s possibilities with curiosity and determination.

But Alicia’s journey took an unexpected turn when her family briefly relocated to San Francisco, CA. The bustling cityscape and diverse culture left an indelible mark on her young mind. During this time, Alicia discovered her passion for both competitive dancing and volleyball. Whether gracefully pirouetting on stage or spiking the ball over the net, she poured her heart into these pursuits.

As Alicia approached college, she sought a balance between her love for sports and her interest in business. Carson-Newman University in Knoxville, TN, became her next destination. There, she embarked on a dual path, studying Business Marketing and Sociology. Alicia’s academic journey was enriched by the scenic beauty of the Smoky Mountains.

After completing her studies, Alicia felt the pull of home. Returning to the Carolinas, she set her sights on a career that blended her skills. Her passion for business and her understanding of human behavior led her to a role as a Business Development Manager within the Software division at an Engineering Services Firm in Charlotte, NC. Alicia thrives in this dynamic environment, where she combines her analytical mindset with her love for innovation.

Our Relationship

Once upon a springtime at Carson-Newman, two students, Alicia and Brandon, found their lives intertwined. It wasn’t just any college romance; it was the kind that began with shared notes and knowing glances in a Marketing lecture during the vibrant Spring of 2017. Side by side, they discovered a harmony in their thoughts and dreams, a serendipitous seating arrangement blossoming into a friendship that refused to acknowledge the growing list of similarities between them.

Post-graduation, their paths diverged only to strengthen their bond. Alicia returned to the familiar streets of Charlotte, while Brandon embraced the academic life in Tennessee, pursuing his Master’s. The miles between them were no match for their connection, and they nurtured their relationship across the distance.

In a move that drew collective “awws,” Brandon closed the gap, relocating to Charlotte to be with Alicia. Their love, having weathered the trials of distance, grew deeper, and after a year of creating shared memories in the Queen City, they decided to embark on a lifelong journey together, sealing their promise in May 2023.

Brandon’s Story

Brandon Cosey, a native of Knoxville, TN, grew up in a household filled with love and encouragement. His parents, Marsha and Will Cosey, instilled in him a strong work ethic and a passion for sports. From an early age, Brandon was drawn to the thrill of competition, spending countless hours playing football with neighborhood friends.

As he approached college, Brandon’s love for sports guided his path. He enrolled at Carson-Newman University, where he not only excelled on the football field but also pursued a degree in Business Marketing. Balancing academics and athletics, he honed his leadership skills and developed a keen understanding of strategic marketing.

After four years of hard work, Brandon proudly graduated from Carson-Newman. But his thirst for knowledge remained unquenched. He set his sights on a Master’s degree, choosing to study Business and Sports Administration at Tusculum University. During this time, he continued to play football, demonstrating both dedication and discipline.

Upon completing his Master’s program, Brandon decided to explore new horizons. He relocated to Charlotte, NC, drawn by the city’s vibrant business scene. There, he found an opportunity as a Recruiting Manager at a Management Consulting Company. His background in sports and marketing served him well, allowing him to connect with potential candidates and build strong teams.
